London's best review, food and drink news
Under the management of an amiable brother and sister team since August last year, the emphasis at this corner pub is on good eating. On an average weekday night tables are filled with chattering professionals (laptops out) and family groups tucking into a menu of slow-braised lamb shank and sirloin burgers. Dark shades and velvety curtains create a cosy restaurant feel, while the pub's original fireplace and paintwork (artfully left to peel) contrast with the sleek metallic central bar. Wine drinkers can peruse an extensive list that groups grapes under 'Distinctive Soils' and 'Purity of Fruit'. Lagers dominate the pumps, with speciality bottled cider including Weston's Organic and Thatcher's. Sunday roasts are a highlight.
