Formerly the Eclipse, the Elderfield lies on the cusp of a council estate and some of Clapton's more gentrified housing. A friendly vibe prevails, with board games galore and plenty of low-key local banter. The sweeping bar offers a nice selection of draught beers: Timothy Taylor Landlord, Sussex Best, Adnams Broadside, Staropramen, Guinness and Hoegaarden. Quality coffee is also served. The regular piano player has shut the lid on his regular night but the management is open to offers from anyone who fancies a tinkle. Pavement seating attracts a small throng for summer drinking.
