A grand corner location, made welcoming at night by fairy lights and glittery glass-beaded chandelier lamps in the large windows, makes the Morgan an automatic choice for the better off denizens of Bow. The place is handsome, with stained-glass window insets and a pale wood bar (presumably recovered from elsewhere: the legend 'Fine wines' above one alcove is bafflingly joined by 'Playwrights' above another), the somewhat baronial feel offset by bold pieces of modern art. With more space giving priority to diners than drinkers things can get crowded, but the beer is well kept (Adnams, Timothy Taylor Landlord), there's a decent selection of wine, and the bar snacks (perhaps a charcuterie plate) are unfussily classy.
