A real post-work magnet on Thursday and Friday nights, when you can hardly see the bar for bodies, the Fox is a delight the rest of the week. Plus points include an attractive ground floor room (modernised but not ruined) with a big central bar and etched glass windows, moreish bar food (tapas-style plates that come from the kitchen serving the lovely first floor restaurant) and a relaxed vibe. Drinks feature something for everyone: real ales are Bombardier plus a guest beer such as Harveys Sussex Bitter; Red Stripe, San Miguel and Foster's are the lagers; and there's a much better than average choice of wines. What's more, the Fox is just far away enough from Shoreditch's main drag to ensure that the place isn't dominated by bright young things.
