An idyllic village location, the Orange Tree is the favourite local of lucky Totteridge and Whetstone residents and a favourite destination of north Londoners seeking a good dose of greenery with their pint. A public house since 1755, the rustic charm of the exterior gives way to a modern makeover (complete with Thai spa detailing) that fortunately stays just the right side of Hilton Hotel foyer. It's run by the same people behind the Freemason's Arms near Hampstead Heath. You'll find a great selection of tap beers (Leffe, Erdinger) and cask ales, plus a lengthy wine list and intriguing cocktails. Designated drivers are well looked after by the friendly, enthusiastic staff, too.

Visited the Orange Tree for large, disorganised, chaotic family lunch. The food was very good and the service patient and good-humoured. Great place for a laid-back afternoon drinking, eating and posh-people watching.
