There are many places to grab a drink while at Borough Market, but none has a better wine list than this temple to the grape. Leather sofas are stuffed in among wood beams, and wood tables provide surfaces on which to rest dishes such as welsh rarebit and potted salt beef while drinking. The sheer number of wines by the glass is to be commended and, unlike many places, Wine Wharf gives the list a big going-over every six months. One that's survived the recent cut is Firesteed's Oregon pinot gris, demonstrating that this grape doesn't have to be boring, thin and tasteless as is so often the case. And if you can't choose, consult the staff - they know their stuff.
