The Three Kings remains a wonderful place to drink in, despite the apparent disappearance of the equally wonderful black pub cat whose style and attitude fitted so perfectly. Rhino heads, Egyptian felines and Dennis Bergkamp provide the decorative backdrop against which a regular bunch of discerning bohos glug Scrumpy Jack, Beck's Vier, Old Speckled Hen or London Pride, and tap the well-worn tables to the Cramps and other gems from an outstanding jukebox. Bottles of Tyskie and Lech point to a recent invasion by jaw-droppingly gorgeous Poles of both sexes. This would sit well in Shoreditch or Camberwell; here in Clerkenwell, it's a proper oasis of alternative taste.
