  • Opposite top DJ bar the Old Queen’s Head, a little way down Islington’s Essex Road, Bar Sequence represents drinking in the digital age. If you’re one of these early-adopting Twitter types who like to 'impress' friends by tweeting from your iPhone then, oh my, this newly-opened, multi-media cocktail bar will be right up your information super highway.

Amid the blue leather banquettes, polished wood and stark bright lights, there’s all manner of audio-visual gadgetry designed to keep your eyes and ears amused. Punters can use several new-fangled 360 degree projectors to spray their own images, films, games and digital galleries onto the walls. There’s a sexy sound system, free Wi-Fi, a DJ/VJ booth and, lest we forget, a bar that sells booze. It’s different, if nothing else.

The drinks aren't as advanced as the technology (thus the two stars) but there’s a strong selection of spirits. With just Carling and Grolsch on tap, the draught beers are a bit bland while the concise cocktail list, although not the most adventurous, covers the classics and champions fresh ingredients.

Foodwise, there are pastries in the morning, and a selection of platters. There’s some kind of sound and vision shenanigans every day. Games and videos on a Monday, Tuesdays and Wednesdays are open-house for digital artists and DJs respectively, while resident artists rule the roost on the weekend.

Returned from a trip abroad last Easter to discover Bar Sequence had opened and haven't looked back since.
The owners and really friendly and the bar staff are the best I've come across in London for service, knowledge and a decent chat.

ufff....go there and ask for a "blackberry mojitos with a twist"! Clean, fast, quality service to the highest standards, that would impress anyone. 5 stars.

Why 4 stars? because I have been going out in this city for many years and I have very high standards. This bar has met most of my expectations, they are tidy and clean, the decor is minimal and impressive, technology is cutting edge that I've never seen anywhere before, and the quality of the sound system is amazing at a volume that you can talk and hear your partner....but I believe you are good if you are consistent, so I'll be returning to bar sequence this Saturday, and if they deliver the same experience then I'll give them 1 more star. Well done so far, and I'll be back...

This bar is a breath of fresh air for me: fast service, no attitude, clean, and the prices are very reasonable and affordable. I've been to a lot of bars in the area and the problem is that most of the other bars are overcrowded and you have to wait 40 minutes or more to get your first drink! The guys at bar sequence seem to have a firm grip on their door policy and let enough people in that they can actually serve properly. Go to this bar if you want quality drinks served fast with a comfortable and pleasant vibe. I have decided that bar sequence my new local now. Thumbs up guys.

My first drink at sequence was made and served in such manner that I decided to go back for a second time, and i was surprised when the bartender greeted me by name, and offered to make me another grey goose martini, exactly the drink I had the previous time that I was there - for me this bar is an intimate space where I will feel comfortable to chat early evening, and party at the weekends. Excellent service, delicious drinks, perfect music, positive vibe, 5 stars! :-)

This is the best bar I been to in London. My experience was very positive because the bar is not too large and offers an intimate and comfortable place to enjoy your drink. I've been to several weekend parties at sequence and have never been disappointed. This is the first time i am giving 5 stars to a bar and they deserve every single one of them. Well done guys at sequence for getting it right.

I took 5 friends to Sequence for a "girly" evening. When we go out, we want our drinks quickly, somewhere that we can talk without the music being too loud, and somewhere that you are left alone to chat with friends. This bar ticked all the boxes and more. The boys and girls at bar sequence have achieved something that not many bars have been successful in creating: "a very nice vibe". The entire bar is full of positive energy and I am going to try them on a Fri or Sat.

My boyfriend surprised me with a champagne brunch package at bar sequence, and it was absolutely amazing! The pictures on the wall, the music, quality of the food and brinks...everything just perfect. We enjoyed our visit so much that we went back on Friday. A man and woman DJ performed a fantastic selection of really nice dance tunes and we partied until 3 in the morning! What a vibe, this bar is going to the weekend destination for us, can't wait to go back.

We (a group of 12) arrived in Sequence only to be greeted by very friendly bartenders. I agree with the previous review done by Mr Wallis that the staff at bar sequence go the extra mile to ensure you have a pleasant experience, displaying an honest desire to serve - a very refreshing approach. I personally liked the meat platter and enjoyed watching the amazing photos that they display on the wall. I told them at the bar about my large collection of photos collected over the year, and they told me I could go back and hold my own photo exhibition in the style of a digital gallery!!! This is amazing, and I'm really looking forward to finally sharing my photos with friends and contacts in the nice setting of a bar over a cocktail. :-)
I marked 4 stars because I believe everyone can find something to improve, although I couldn't put my finger on anything at Sequence, I am sure the owners will find a way of making it even better. Looking forward to going back to Sequence soon.

I have been to bar Sequence a number of times, and what impressed me every time that I have been there is the level of service and quality of experience. No other bar in Islington, or London for that matter, has been able to match that for me. I got my drink served to me quickly and with a smile and the music is very nice. The staff are cheerful and are actually polite for change. This is my favorite place and I will go back again.
