Opposite top DJ bar the Old Queen’s Head, a little way down Islington’s Essex Road, Bar Sequence represents drinking in the digital age. If you’re one of these early-adopting Twitter types who like to 'impress' friends by tweeting from your iPhone then, oh my, this newly-opened, multi-media cocktail bar will be right up your information super highway.
Amid the blue leather banquettes, polished wood and stark bright lights, there’s all manner of audio-visual gadgetry designed to keep your eyes and ears amused. Punters can use several new-fangled 360 degree projectors to spray their own images, films, games and digital galleries onto the walls. There’s a sexy sound system, free Wi-Fi, a DJ/VJ booth and, lest we forget, a bar that sells booze. It’s different, if nothing else.
The drinks aren't as advanced as the technology (thus the two stars) but there’s a strong selection of spirits. With just Carling and Grolsch on tap, the draught beers are a bit bland while the concise cocktail list, although not the most adventurous, covers the classics and champions fresh ingredients.
Foodwise, there are pastries in the morning, and a selection of platters. There’s some kind of sound and vision shenanigans every day. Games and videos on a Monday, Tuesdays and Wednesdays are open-house for digital artists and DJs respectively, while resident artists rule the roost on the weekend.

I've been in this place when they just open, it was on a friday night.I remember lots of people dancing and cocktails going around like crazy, what a night.I said to myself this place in few months will rock. But apparently didn't happen in the way, I did pop in once and was deserted, cold and negative, something in there is not working. I think bar sequence will go busted very soon.... Anyway just go next door to Barrio if you want a good night out
I had an amazing night!! I was on my way to Bario North and a guy promoting literally sold it to me through his enthusiastic and friendly approach.
The music was great - commercial dance and classic club anthems.
With this great experience this bar will become my new hideout
Bar Sequence has a relaxing atmosphere in the day while in the night it transforms into a busy cocktail bar with good energy! All the staff are very friendly, happy and enthusiastic about their bar.The more i go back to Sequence the more i seem to enjoy it:)
Quite an extensive selection of spirits, but more importantly this the first bar in London where the music is of the quality and volume that you can actually hold a conversation, well done guys at Bar Sequence for getting it right. Highly recommended (4 stars to leave room for improvement).
WOW, what an experience! From the moment we walked into this bar, we were impressed with everything. We were greeted with a smile and served drinks really fast. The staff are friendly and the service is of very high standards. We're returning next Tuesday...apparently they run a digital gallery every Tue which I really like to see as I'm thinking of running my own photo exhibition :-)
An extremely pleasant bar and the staff go the extra mile to make you feel comfortable. We wanted to stay only for a drink, but ended up staying the entire evening as the cocktails were just too tasty. We were surprised to find out that on weekends they close later than all venues in that road, which really helped. They also had a dance floor and the music was very clear without being overwhelming. Overall a successful experience and we've already booked my friend's b-day party there, so we are going back. Definitely recommended.
I have spent all morning working with my laptop at this venue and recommend it to all of you who like good coffee followed by a fresh strawberries smoothie and the possibility of connecting your laptop to one of the many projectors to see your screen displayed on the wall in front of you! Great Experience! :-)
After bouncing from bar to bar in the vibrant and lovely islington district I stumble upon a cold and unfriendly bar called 'Bar Sequence'. This ugly and brash venue is powered by the attitude and arrogance of the owners who do not understand the meaning of the word 'hospitality'. After receiving a pint of attitude on entering followed by a double shot of 'what-are-you-doing-in-my-living-room-chaser' I begin to leave with my friends. As I walk to the door I am hassled by the Spanish inquisition on why this wasn't a pleasant experience only to receive heavy abuse.
Considering this place was empty with uncomfortably loud and anti-social house music I cannot imagine they are doing much in the way of business. It's true to say that you get what you give and this bar will give you nothing but unnecessary stress when all you want to do is relax with a drink and catch up with friends.
A warning to all, DO NOT waste your time while there are so many other more friendly, welcome and cheaper bars in this town, especially just next door!
Different...this is the bar of the future! They've taken social networking to a completely new level. We booked a table and went to bar sequence with a group of friends and had a blasting time chatting over our photos blown to the size of a wall! It's amazing how they do it. Mark my words, I predict one of these bars in every city around the world very soon, people leaving their PCs at home, and sharing their digital photos and videos with their friends over a drink...in a bar! Go and see for yourself, all you need is your friends and your photos in a memory stick, and think of me when drinking delicious cocktails :-)
I celebrated my birthday at Sequence last weekend and it really felt special. My photos and messages were projected on the walls, our group got a VIP promotion on drinks and the brownies!! thumbs up!!
