The Aqua group owns a chain of upmarket dining and drinking 'concepts' in China and Hong Kong, and in October 2009 they opened their first UK venture in the old Dickins & Jones department store on Regent Street.
On the site, there's a modern Spanish restaurant (Aqua Nueva) and one serving Japanese food (Aqua Kyoto); Aqua Spirit, funnily enough, is the cocktail bar.
Like the two restaurants, Aqua Kyoto's design veers towards the overwhelmingly safe and hotel-like, although it's not unpleasant.
The cocktail list is inventive and make use of innovative Spanish and Japanese ingredients, but isn't cheap - cocktails are £9-£12.
