Anam
Tucked away on Chapel Market, this swish little DJ joint prides itself on being London’s first Irish cocktail bar. It’s a dizzying proposition, but rest assured – it’s not a case of Guinness and cream soda with an umbrella on top. The cocktail list is, in fact, a thing of real beauty, divided into two subsections which speak for themselves: Heaven and Hell. While the eclectic mix of music played on the many DJ nights puts it in competition with the nearby Salmon & Compass, Anam offers a slightly more grown-up, refined atmosphere, with its crepuscular deep-red interior, comfy furniture and large fish tank. There are two small but perfectly formed floors, and just the right amount of room for those looking to have a bit of a jig. Bouncers will insist on smart-ish dress come the weekend.
