Milk & Honey
Tucked away behind unmarked Prohibition era-style black doors, this jazz-tinged speakeasy from the people behind the Player is a charming mix of semi-exclusivity and unprecedented friendliness. Non-members will need to book in advance (and leave by 11pm), but will be treated like old friends by the staff – assuming they follow the House Rules (Rule No.1: ‘No name dropping, no star fucking’). Diminutive light fixtures struggle to illuminate a spread of intimate leather booths and art deco tin tiles on the walls, but semi-blindness is a small price to pay for cocktails of this calibre (the sours embodying a perfect balance of lemon, sugar and egg-white; the swizzles and cobblers deliciously refreshing). The members-only Red Room boasts a reserve list of fine wines served with a complimentary cheese platter, but you don’t need to spend like a celebrity to feel like one in this fantastic little hideaway.
