Bars & Pubs

  • Corney & Barrow

  • More famous once for its wine merchant arm, Corney & Barrow launched its wine bar business during the style bar whim of the 1990s. The bars have become firmly established since, while keeping much of the minimalist style of that period. Big glass windows and stark concrete lit by spotlights produce something of a jet-setting, international-airport feel, very much in contrast to the typical City wine bar. Roll-out plans were halted by an abortive move into the West End, so the directors have stuck to what they know in the City and Canary Wharf, with 11 bars in all. Many branches offer breakfast menus from 7.30am to fit in with the local working crowd. The website gives an excellent idea of what to expect at each venue. Food is served all day, but in the evening is restricted to bar snacks such as tempura prawns with chilli sauce. At lunch, there’s a large choice, including chunky 28-day hung sirloin steak with chips, mushrooms, spinach and tomato.

My new husband and I had our wedding reception here yesterday. I was so impressed that I had to write a review immediately just in case someone misses out!
The Venue: Is funky, stylish and oozes "london city" It's situation underneath St pauls Cathedral is spectacular and makes a fabulous backdrop for a variety of events...especially impressive for wedding guests who are not familiar with the city. For anyone wishing to find a city venue for their wedding reception please visit, you wont be disappointed!
The Staff: The professionalism of the staff was outstanding!!! The staff were wonderful, friendly, polite, welcoming and could not do enough for us. Every one of our 130 guests commented on how professional and organised they were. Hannah, Danielle I cannot recommend you enough. Thank you.
The chefs provided delicious food, hot and plentiful, again all of my guests commented on how wonderful it was, my only regret is that I didnt get an opportunity to thank them, they were in the kitchens until 11pm at night to cook us steak sandwiches!!
PLEASE, PLEASE seriously consider this venue for your reception or party, its well worth it!!!!!
