Beside the King's Cross Thameslink station, the N1 branch of the multi-tentacled and laudable Big Chill festival and music bar operation made an impressive debut in 2007. Easy-to-share dishes, platters, sandwiches and burgers are consumed by a music-savvy daytime crowd, as are Tiger, Budvar and Leffe by the bottle. Wines run from a house Oléa de Comté (£3.25/£12.50) to a £24.50 Sancerre. After dark, cocktails appear, including house varieties by the glass or jug (Big Chill Punch with Finlandia and white peach purée, £6.50/£19.50), accompanying an adventurous live music programme. Above the main bar area are an upstairs bar and terrace.
