190 Queensgate
The perfect pub, cocktail bar and destination lounge, this annexe of the Gore Hotel hides between the Albert Hall and the Bulgarian Embassy. Upholstered seating and carved dark wood surround a sturdy bar, and table service frees you of the transactional bullshit of the metal change tray. Bar food of the charcuterie plate variety and an ambient soundtrack also feature. Underpinning it all is a 20-strong list of cocktails (£8.50), mules and martinis made with Ketel One, Belvedere and Absolut, mixed with fresh raspberries, lychees and so on. The high-end brands can be ordered singly too, a shot of Matusalem Clasico is £6. Four quality champagnes (£9.95-£17) also come by the glass, including Veuve Clicquot.
