Apartment 195
You need to press a buzzer to gain admittance to this discreet little number (a sure way to impress your mates). But despite the trappings of highfalutin’ exclusivity, a warm welcome awaits at the top of the stairs. There’s a Vivienne Westwood meets laid-back gentlemen’s club feel to the decor, with sumptuous leathers sofas, a garish pop hologram and royally purple walls adorned with artwork and an enormous, kitsch Penny Black stamp. The drinking is all about the cocktails, with legendary mojitos; the delicious and surprisingly potent lulo mojito (containing Havana Club seven-year-old) costs £8. To celebrate the bar’s fourth anniversary, they’ve launched a special London-themed cocktail menu, featuring various fruity offerings. The star turn is the aptly named Crown Jewels: a glass of honey-sweetened rare cognac topped with vintage champagne that’ll set you back a staggering £350. Now that really would impress your friends.
