Time Out says Rate it
David Collins's redesign of this handsome room in the Langham Hotel updated the pillars, marble fittings and high ceilings with a considered yet glamorous touch. The result has visual impact, blending grand Victorian decadence (a marble bar, soaring inset mirrors, embroidered napkins) with modern details (purple snakeskin-effect leather seats, a carved pagoda-style back bar, faultless service).
Cocktail highlights include the heady Artesian Punch (Poire William, pineapple, citrus and three rums); indeed, rum is a speciality of the house, with a list running to 60 varieties, from Gosling's Black Seal (£9) to Havana Club Maximo (£300). A cut above.
