It's been a fair few years since Dick Bradsell was behind the counter here, but his legacy lives on in the shape of the fine modern cocktails: the Rose Petal martini (Bombay Sapphire with Lanique rose liqueur, lychee juice and Peychaud bitters), for example, or the Elderflower Fizz (elderflower cordial, lemon juice, champagne).
The 'London contemporary classics' offer the best in British mixes from recent times, such as Jason Fendick's Quiet Storm (Ketel One, guava, lychee and pineapple juices, coconut cream and lime); there are also classics from bygone eras, among them the Bloodhound (Plymouth gin, Noilly Prat, raspberries and maraschino cherries).
Mixing and service are fittingly old-school, and the environment - a sun-catching front terrace, a long bar counter and wide, candlelit main seating area at the back - is a pleasing one.

Tables outdoors ( 5, terrace ), Function room ( 75-80 capacity ), Disabled ( toilet ), Entertainment ( Djs 9pm Thur-Sat )Fantastic English food, lots of meat hooray (but what looked like good choices for the vegetablarian brigade), first class service, lovely ambience, comfy seats, wonderful service, attractive design, easy to find, did I mention that the service was marvellous. The only flaw was that the menu did not say that my pork came with mashed potato so I ate too much as I'd ordered chips, but hey some people would think they'd gone to heaven if they had both mash and chips with one meal and they were both excellent. I loved it and I'll be back.
