Vinopolis's Wine Wharf inhabits a reclaimed Victorian warehouse located just by Borough Market, all exposed brickwork, high-ceilinged industrial chic and big leather sofas spread over two storeys (half of the upper one being given over to diners).
You could drink very well here from the 300-bin list that stretches to a 1953 d'Yquem (a mere £916.50 a bottle) and some serious prestige cuvée champagnes. However, with over half the wines available by the glass, this is a great opportunity to experiment. The wine list is organised by country and price rather than region or style, which can make navigation somewhat difficult, but the staff generally know their stuff.
Bar bites and sharing platters are available, together with more substantial dishes in the restaurant upstairs. Wine-phobes may find more appealing drinks a stone's throw away at beer-themed sister operation Brew Wharf.
