Little has changed at Alphabet since its days at the forefront of the Soho boho bar circuit. The street-level dining area is bookended by a bar counter and skylight at one end and sofas and a picture window at the other, while the walls feature long-in-the-tooth graffiti.
The drinks list includes several fruity, quaffable numbers (apple martinis, raspberry mojitos); spirits are unspecified, but the back bar is lined with high-end brands. The wine list plays it safe, and there are various bottled continental lagers.
Food is a bigger deal these days, with modestly priced small plates (chorizo and new potatoes, pan-fried squid) and comforting mains (Aberdeen Angus burger, king prawn and avocado salad).
