It's a splendid little pub, this, with a young, international clientele drawn in no small part from the nearby London School of Economics - note the foreign banknotes behind the half-moon bar counter. They're treated to a decent selection of ales on draught - Wadworth 6X, Everards Tiger and Wychwood Hobgoblin - with more timid Europeans opting for a bottle of Budvar, Corona, Beck's or Peroni. Wine prices are kept reasonable: an acceptable Codesa de Leganza crianza tempranillo at £3.10 a glass or £11.45 a bottle, with Casa La Joya sauvignon blanc coming in a touch higher.
Food (soups, salads, large poppy seed bloomer sandwiches) has also been priced with the student in mind. It's a traditional pub refit job, so the wood is as shiny as can be around the spacious bar on the ground floor, and thought has gone into creating the relaxing function room upstairs. Nicely located on a traffic-free junction of three streets.
