It's now looking a little ragged at the edges, but the party-hearty drinkers who frequent this basement either don't mind or don't notice the slight shabbiness or the faintly dated decor as long as the drinks remain cheap, the atmosphere remains cheerful and the triptych of Max von Sydow sinking an akvavit remains on the wall.
There are beers and wines, but the main points of interest on the menu are the cocktails, all based on Scandinavian ingredients and recipes: the Northern Light, for instance, is a sweet concoction of muddled fresh mint, mango and white peach purée, mandarin vodka and blue curaçao. The shots (£3) are as cheeky as their names (Flaming Volvo, Björn's Balls).
