Despite what the outer appearance of the black-coated bouncer might lead you to expect, the youngish crowd at this smart club/DJ bar are an amiable bunch.

Within, the White House is a funky, slightly retro spot: a screen plays woozy images in the front area, while punters mingle on the other side of the bar in a space that could pass for the waiting room in 2001: A Space Odyssey.

A dining area and dancefloor are interwoven; in summer, there's a wow-factor roof terrace with a dancefloor, the venue's best feature. DJs spin house-heavy playlists through a modern sound system: there's music roughly five nights a week.

Custom-made cocktails (£6-£7) have oomph and attitude, such as a Manhattan-style daiquiri of Pampero Especial rum, grapefruit juice and Maraschino liqueur; jugs of sangria also get the party going.

Really like this venue - they get great people playing, both established and new DJs - and there's always a great atmosphere and gorgeous people!

Had some great nights here. I find the bar can be a bit of a nightmare to get served at times, and it can be a bit of a maze trying to find mates. Generally though this place is loads better for a night out than infernos, especially if you care about your music and was a slightly more upmarket crowd.
