Tucked away in a maze of backstreet terraces, this justifiably popular pub sits conveniently out of earshot of the Kentish Town bustle.

The bar counter will greet you before the aromas of Thai food: it's an ornate, carved Victorian affair not three paces from the front door, with an impressive array of beery choices. Ales from Adnams, Redemption and Sambrook's join Leffe, Beck's Vier and Staropramen in the narrow space; beer festivals each Easter further extend the choice.

The bar is framed by two corridors each side, with a conservatory housing a back dining area and a garden beyond it; decor is an easy-going mix of trad pub furniture and handsome contemporary touches.

The Pineapple is more of a drinking house than a culinary destination, though the Thai food and £5 lunches are decent value and seem to please the punters.

Excellent pub with a particularly good quiz on a Monday evening. Good selection of real ales and lagers which are competitively priced. The food is reliable without being spectacular.

great place and in an area with many a good standard rivals; for real ale, wine and all, welcoming staff, happy vibes and friendly cheer, it's a definite favourite - a local for all (thank goodness I only live up the road and my bus home from work stops nearby!)
