Asahi, saké and sushi prevail in this two-floor Japanese-themed urban retreat. Brightly coloured vinyl stencils over the windows and retro computer games feature on the ground floor; downstairs, a brash mural of Tokyo by night has customers gawping, while DJs spin most evenings.

Guinness and Asahi lager on draught and Kirin, Sapporo and Asahi Super Dry by the bottle complement almost two dozen cocktails (£7): among them is the powerful Tokyo Ice Tea, involving Midori, tequila, vodka, gin and Cointreau.

Assorted sakés and shochus round off the drinks menu, along with Nikka, Gingko and Suntory whiskies and a few wines. Sushi, sashimi and tempura feature on the menu, and there are various bento boxes.

Love Fluid, my friend took me there for his colleagues birthday drinks just before christmas and I've been back every week since. The cocktails are some of the best in the area, particularly the spicy Mortal Kombat and very ginny Jasmine Martini. The atmosphere and look is unlike any other. I hate the stiff mundane bars like all bar one etc and Fluid provides something different in Farringdon, sure there's other places to get good sushi but where else can you play space invaders whilst munching on a rainbow roll????!
