After passing the flunkies gesturing to chauffeured guests as they pull into this upscale Marriott outpost, you've a choice: to the right, the CC Bar to the right; to the left, Pearl, part French restaurant and part cocktail bar.
A corridor contains five seating areas divided by strands of illuminated beads, each with an oval table and a thick drinks menu; the light wood and fawn colour scheme is echoed by six stools along the bar.
The cocktails are inventive, well-mixed and pre-crunch pricey: fresh fruit, exotic mixers, high-end base fuels. Seven 'bartenders' choices' (£13.75) include a Bumble Bee, made with honey and vanilla vodkas, Disaronno and fresh mint; the list of 'Pearl specialities' (£11.50) includes Oriental Fusion, made with Luksusowa vodka, chilli pepper syrup and lychee liqueur. Not cheap, then; but if you're in an affair and/or on expenses, Pearl is money well spent.
