El Camion is Mexican-themed but, unlike the kitsch Baja Californian restaurant above - where you can corral generous burritos, tortas and tacos - it's more a discerning basement drinking den where Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) iconography sits above a series of snugs.

The drinks are overseen by maestro mixologist Dick Bradsell, there's swift and smiling table service, and it's open late. With 38 different bottles covering blanco (white), reposado ('rested') and añejo ('aged'), it's a temple to tequila. You can sip the better ones neat, but it'd be remiss to ignore the marvellous margaritas, of which Tommy's Margarita is the pick.

Mezcal is also well represented, alongside several rum daiquiris and cachaça-driven batidas; bottled Mexican beers include Pacifico Clara, Bohemia and Negra Modelo.

bland bland bland! I was really excited about my trip to El Camion but i was left underwhelmed. The service was good and they meals came in a reasonable time frame but the quality of the dish was just terrible, as my mother is mexican I know what the homeland food should taste like and this was not it unfortunately but I will not give up on my quest to find a genuine Mexican restaurant in London

TERRIBLE. Avoid this place. I invited 20 friends to celebrate in the downstairs bar after talking to the staff there a week before and being told they don't make reservations on Fridays and I should just arrived early. I arrived at 7 and was told by the manager it's fully booked. After having a discussion with him, he agreed to let us stay in the top floor. But after 10, some of my friends were not let inside anymore by the same rude lady NRYP mentioned, saying the place it over capacity (it wasn't. they haven't really checked). To top it all, I ordered a bottle of their home tequila because I thought it would be cheaper than buying shots for everyone. Only after my order I found out ordering the same amount (700cc) of tequila with individual shots of the same brand, would cost me 20 Pounds less. I will never return there, and I recommend to avoid it.

Had a great night at El Camion on friday night, the restaurant serves up the beat Mexican food I've ever had. The service was very friendly and fun. the mexican Bean stew was excellent (I can't remember what they call it). The margaritas were excellent too.

we then went down to the bar where we had some Pink Chihuahua cocktails. The music was great and the vibe was great fun... H
