Baranis

Baranis and Cigalon is an upstairs, downstairs affair with a French accent. Baranis is the cocktail bar (downstairs in the basement), with a simpler menu of bar food and the sort of French drinks you normally only find in France.

The drinks list makes much of the region’s prime aperitif, pastis, with 15 types of the anise-flavoured tipple. There are also aperitifs from Provence and Corsica, and a cocktail list divided into original drinks (including signature cocktails such as a lemon thyme margarita) and classics. A short food menu features simple finger food such as charcuterie, cheese, crostini and Provencal pizzetas. 

And in case you want to make the southern experience complete, there’s even a gravelled pétanque court, cordoned off from the bar at one side. It's free of charge but please book in advance.

Note: Baranis is only open Tuesday to Saturday.
