This cosy corner pub was Young's first ever, opened in 1832. Now, under revamped Young's management and with a new chef and fresh look, it exudes culinary confidence and a homely, rustic feel with its roaring fire, deep leather sofas and dark oak tables and floors.
It deftly juggles drinking and dining with a couple of Young's ales, a guest ale and a row of lager fonts (Peroni, Grolsch Blonde, Estrella Damm), and more than a dozen wines available by the glass.
The hearty, jingoistic cooking unashamedly caters for meat-lovers. Starters include wild boar, venison and rabbit terrine on toast; mains might include spatchcocked quail or the house speciality, mussels and chips; roasts are served all day Sunday. The conservatory and sizeable garden come into play in summer, when there are regular barbecues.

Just stopped by here for a lovely meal and it was stupendous!!! Thankyou
We dropped into this cosy pub and really enjoyed the great food and the friendly staff. They even catered wonderfully for my daughters gluten free diet ! The open fire and warm feel of the placed actually resulted in us stay there for dinner too.
