This prominent corner pub opposite Tooting Bec tube used to be a rough joint inhabited by slightly scary alcoholics. Then Antic - who also run The Tooting Tram & Social, Balham Bowls Club, The Antelope, and look poised to take over a major development in Tooting - took it over and did one of their characteristically faux-bohemian makeovers. Now, there are mismatched mirrors on the walls, red leather chesterfields, Daft Punk on the sound system, and a big sign above the bar stating, optimistically, 'Yummy food coming soon'.

Most importantly, the beer fonts have been seriously upgraded, and now stock a good selection of real ales from Adnams, Harveys, and occasional guest ales such as Mad Goose, a pale ale from the Purity brewery in Warwickshire. The customers are now a slightly odd mix of local hipsters, babes and builders, with the occasional gaggle of slightly unnerving sunburt alcoholics looking rather bemused by their new-old boozer.

Best pub I have ever been in! Great atmosphere, we go in for just a quick mad goose or for the day. Relaxed and friendly staff.

I love you wheatsheaf
