Green & Blue is perhaps the purest example of the new generation of wine shop/bar/cafés. One room has a small deli counter and shelves of wine for retail; the other has an equally small bar and the majority of the seating.
The wine list isn't huge, but there's a lot to love: owner Kate Thal has done an excellent job combining big-name superstars with some oddities and new discoveries such as Emile Heredia's Domaine de Montrieux, Pétillant Naturel 'Boisson Rouge', a joyously sparkling Loire red.
The food is an exercise in good sourcing, with panini, salads, and some platters of cheese and cured meats. In a neat inversion of the usual corkage fee, for £3 you can bring your own food, and staff will provide plates and cutlery. Every high street could do with a place like this.
