Week 1
‘We’ve had lots of thumbs-ups, waves and smiles along the way,
which has been nice. When we stop, people like to take a look, say
hello or ask about where we are headed. One guy in Paris asked for a
lift, and we gave him a ride round the block. A taxi driver took
interest in the amount of room in the back as it was “good for
customers”.
Feature continues
‘At a service station one guy
had a look inside and told me, “I like your car; I like your wife.” The
further we’ve headed south, the more the interest has increased, so it
will be interesting to see what happens over the next week here in the
Côte d’Azur and then in Italy and Greece.
‘Driving is like
sitting in an armchair. I guess the cabs were designed to sit in all
day, so you never feel any aches or pains when you get out. And there
is so much space in the back it’s been a real pleasure. The views are
amazing, with windows all around and lots of light – it’s like some
kind of private viewing capsule.’
