Move over mint, there's a new cocktail accompaniment in town…

Yuk. Are those nettles?

No, my friend, they’re shiso.

She's who?

No, shiso. Think of them as mint’s cooler Asian cousin. With slightly frillier edges. They’re great if you like mixing drinks, because they’re super pretty and will add a delicate herbiness to your cocktails.

Did you say cocktails?

Yup. Like, for instance, they’re the star ingredient in the She’s So Into You (sharp and frothy, with a gin base) at Dalston yakitori joint Jidori.

Sounds unbe-leaf-able.

Oh, leaf it out, will you.
