Summer in London is great, isn't it? Sipping on an ice cold beer in the sun with your pals – those memories are priceless, aren't they? Well, not exactly. According to research from GoEuro, London is the thirteenth priciest city for beer in the entire world. They analysed the cost of the dominant local beer and five of the most imported beers in 75 cities across the world, to produce an average cost for beers in bars and supermarkets in each city. The average price of a supermarket beer in London was a fairly reasonable £1.09 but the average bar cost was a sobering £4.74, bringing the overall London average to £2.92.
But it's not all bad news – at least we didn't come first. Geneva scooped the top spot for the most expensive city on the whole planet, where the average pint will set you back £4.08. And if it's cheap beers you're after, you might want to consider a trip to Krakow, which was the cheapest place for beer in the world at a mere £1.07 per pint.
And while it might not be doing your bank balance or waistline any favours, apparently Londoners are chugging away 79 litres of beer per person every year. Good effort, guys. Now, anyone for an overpriced pint? Pretty sure it's your round.
