City Envy: Berlin has a shed hotel (and it's way better than it sounds)

The fact that desperate Londoners are doing things like renting garden sheds for £1,000 a month because the housing market is so out of control isn't a good thing, obviously. But does that mean that all shed-sleeping is bad? Not necessarily. It's exactly what you can do at Hüttenpalast, a unique hotel in Berlin.

The 'hut palace' is actually a former vacuum-cleaner factory, inside which are three cabins you can rent.

They come with beds, a croissant breakfast and - gasp! - free wifi.

There are also a handful of caravans, should you want to really live it up.

Are the owners laughing all the way to the bank at their cunning ploy to get people to pay actual money to sleep in demountable garden structures?

We don't know, but we're off to Homebase for inspiration.

If you don't fancy staying in a shed hotel, take a look at these underwater apartments in Dubai.
