Get jolly on juleps at the Blues Kitchen this week

Big into bourbon and shiny mugs? Get yourself down to the Blues Kitchen from today until Saturday for Julep Week – a celebration of the American South’s favourite cocktail.

It's all timed to coincide with the Kentucky Derby, and there’ll be five of the bourbon-based beauties to get down you, named after hotly tipped horses from this year’s race. They range from the conservative – bourbon, peach preserve, orange juice and mint – to the outlandish – bourbon, cherry jam, peppercorn syrup, chocolate bitters and mint – are £7.50 a pop and are being served up at all three Blues Kitchen branches, in Shoreditch, Camden and Brixton.

Sure, it’s all hooked on a horse race happening 4,000 miles away, but when it comes to broadening our boozy horizons, we’ll take any tenuous excuse.
