Is this 'spaceship' about to land on top of the Central St Martins?

With its curved body, oval windows and pincer-like feet, this yellow pod could be straight out of a sci-fi movie. It's actually a rare '60s ski lodge, though, and it might be about to land in London.

The 'Futuro House' is made out of fibreglass and is one of only 100 made in the '60s and '70s. Restored by the artist Craig Barnes thanks to a grant from the Arts Council, it first went on show at Matt’s Gallery in Mile End Park last year.

Now the artist is looking for a permanent home for the structure, and top of the list is the third floor terrace of the Central St Martins’ building in King’s Cross. University of the Arts London has requested planning permission from Camden council and hopes to use the 13ft tall and 26ft wide building as a space for talks, discussions, lectures, exhibitions and screenings.
