The Lord Mayor's Show will be the only place to see free fireworks in central London this year

What's better than fireworks? Free fireworks. But if you want to see the sky light up in central London without paying a penny – thanks a lot, New Year's Eve – the only free display will be at the Lord Mayor's Show parade in November.

The display was cancelled last year following the Paris terrorist attacks, while 2012's show was put on hold because of the Olympics. But it's now been given the green light for the next three years and this year's event will be held on November 12.

On the flipside, you'll still need to fork out to see the capital's annual NYE display – but with only a third of tickets for last year's sparklefest going to Londoners, you'll probably have more luck catching it on the Beeb.
