A south London photo gallery has just opened the latest tribute to Brixton’s most famous son. No, not John Major: Photofusion’s new exhibition spans the whole career of the late David Bowie, with some pictures that have never been seen in Britain before. Dig.
Named after a nicely obscure Bowie lyric, ‘Silhouettes and Shadows’ ties in with this year’s ‘Rebel Rebel’-themed Brixton Design Trail. It includes photos by Mick Rock – the man who captured Ziggy Stardust in his glam pomp – plus others like Terry Pastor, Steve Rapport and Fernando Aceves, whose photos show a goateed Bowie touring Mexican archeological sites in 1997.
The show has been pulled together by music photography gurus Rockarchive, and runs until October 26, opening 11am to 6pm from Monday to Saturday. And while you’re in the area, check out the Bowie mural on Tunstall Place, which is being listed by Lambeth council.
