Three weeks ago we asked you to vote for your favourite West End musical, because why not. And you did so in your droves, with over 55,000 votes cast.
While the big hitters – 'Les Mis’, ‘Wicked’ et al – all did well, it turned out to be a surprise win for new kid on the block ‘Bend It Like Beckham’: yup, the musical about underdogs triumphing against the odds was itself an underdog that triumphed over the odds, beating nearest rival ‘Wicked’ by over 200 votes. Was it all a well-orchestrated campaign by the musical? Does it somehow have more obsessive fans than even 'Wicked'? Or is it actually, scientifically the best musical in London? Whatever.
