It’s C&W homage overkill right now, with covers albums by Dolly P, Norah J and Van M in the shops. Willie focuses solely on the work of Walker, who wrote Texan dancehall waltzes for Gene Autry, Eddy Arnold and Ernest Tubb. With songwriting this good, it’s hard to go wrong, and Nelson is a dab hand at getting over the requisite emotion. Stand-outs include the sprightly ‘Cherokee Maiden’, melancholy ‘Just Walkin’ Out The Door’ and the heartfelt ‘Don’t Be Ashamed Of Your Age’.
