  • Speakeasy alert! The Pale Blue Door

  • How's this for an installation? Tony Hornecker, set designer, has transformed his Hackney terrace house into a restaurant.

Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays see up to 24 diners take a seat in one of the beautifully-decorated rooms – all swishy fabrics and mirrors and tall candles – to enjoy a three-course dinner at what Hornecker is calling The Pale Blue Door.

'If you follow your nose and open your ears and let the breeze carry the waft of smoke and the whiff of moonshine, the promise of love will drive you on and with furtive looks you knock three times, a heavily lacquered hand reaches out. Light, love and laughter spill out into the night sky before the city falls back into it’s slumber, only turning slightly in it’s cold and guilty bed.'

A Man Da Pet is one of the fabulous performance artists who will be sweeping through the rooms, expect a fully immersive, sensational experience.

It being his house and all, it's on for just a few weeks – although we've just heard that it's now on until Friday May 3. Three courses for £30 per head, including half a bottle of wine.

The e-mail address thepalebluedoor@hotmail.com does bounce back, but try thepalebluedoor@hotmail.co.uk seems OK. I've not had a reply yet but it doesn't get returned.

The listing sounds very interesting. However the email address supplied returns "address not found" messages and there is no other contact information supplied. Why print a listing on the site and in your magazine that your subscribers cannot attend? Very frustrating...
