Billed as Elvis and Cash in frocks, The Frantastics are the stars of the apparently burgeoning subgenre of 'frockabilly', transsexual country rock with stilettos in place of cowboy boots. In fact, there's barely a glance at genderplay of any kind in their act of crowd-pleasing covers and one or two original numbers (such as the bittersweet 'I Fell in Love in a Chatroom'). But if their lack of any radical or revisionist edge is a bit disappointing - a straight version of 'A Boy Named Sue'? Come on! - the Frantastics' solid showmanship and rip-roaring repertoire make this a great night's entertainment.
