This 'retrospectacle' offers a new reworking into a single show of the three insightful, sardonic and moving memoir shows that gender-free icon-in-the-making La JJ has created to date: 'I Happen to Like New York', 'Underclass Hero' and 'Notorious Beauty'. As a whole, the work roves from Bootle to Manhattan, London to SF, taking in politics, religion, class, pop, sex, gender and bin bags, expressed with glacial charm, intellectual rigour and an occasional shard of warmth. It's all punctuated with stylish visual flourishes and songs from the likes of Cole Porter, Leonard Cohen and Justin Vivian Bond, and shouldn't be missed.
