Ah, the list show. A format pioneered by the BBC at the start of the century with the ‘I Love…’ series and taken to its logical extreme by the channel E! and its ilk, with ‘23 Best Worst Ever Celebrity Hair Meltdown Bitch Fights You Love to Hate to Love Ever’, or something. So what better way to see out the televisual decade? The greatest songs of the past ten years get the rundown tomorrow, but tonight we’re promised that the focus will fall on decade-defining shows rather than those that got the ratings – although the involvement of a YouGov poll may offer pause for thought. Even so, we should reasonably expect ‘The Wire’, ‘Doctor Who’ and presumably ‘Big Brother’ to make appearances (whither ‘Hole in the Wall’?), while the talking heads are of a pretty decent calibre as well, with Simm, Tennant and Clarkson among those having their say. Of course, for the final word you should pick up Time Out next week, where we’ll be picking our own top shows for your delectation and, we hope, debate. Feature continues
