Tim Albery directs a new production of Mussorgsky's thrilling drama of murder and skulduggery among the ruling elite of sixteenth-century Russia. At its heart is the powerful psychological portrayal of the tsar, Boris Godunov, who descends terrifyingly into madness. The bass Peter Rose sings the title role, with Brindley Sherratt (Pimen) and John Graham-Hall (Prince Shuisky). The conductor is Edward Gardner.
