Rossini's comic operas featuring love, laughter and a resourceful heroine, aided and abetted by Figaro, the town barber, extraordinaire. Starring Italian baritone Pietro Spagnoli in the title role (Simon Keenlyside has withdrawn on doctor's orders), Juan Diego Flórez* (Count Almaviva); Joyce DiDonato (Rosina), Alessandro Corbelli (Doctor Bartolo) and Ferruccio Furlanetto (Don Basilio). The director is Moshe Leiser and Patrice Caurier; Antonio Pappano conducts. (*Colin Lee sings the role on July 12 and 18.)
