Welcome aboard the HMS FUNharmonics

David Angus conducts the London Philharmonic Orchestra, as Chris Jarvis presents a nautically-themed concert especially for children and their families. Featuring Walton's musical homage to Lord Nelson, Rimsky-Korsakov's beautiful musical setting of 'The Sea' and 'Sinbad's Ship', one of the many stories told by Princess Scheherazade in her bid to outwit the wicked Sultan. Plus, a new story set to music by Oscar-winning composer Dario Marianelli. Sir Henry Wood's 'British Sea Songs' plus excerpts from the film soundtrack from Pirates of the Caribbean. (Note: there are Foyer events throughout the morning, try your hand at playing an orchestral instrument in a Have-a-Go session, get your face painted or join the orchestra in the foyers before and after the performance.)
