Haydn's Symphony No 22 ('The Philosopher'); Wagner's Prelude and 'Good Friday music', ('Parsifal'); Alfred Schnittke's Excerpts from 'The History of Dr Johann Faustus' (sung in German with English surtitles). Vladimir Jurowski conducts the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Moscow Conservatory Chamber Choir, with Anna Larsson (Mephistophila), Andrew Watts (Mephistophiles), Markus Brutscher (narrator), Stephen Richardson (Dr Faustus). Annabel Arden directs this semi-staged version of excerpts of Schnittke's opera. (Note: At 6.15pm in the RFH there is a performance of Schnittke's String Quartet No 3 by the Harpham Quartet; free.)
