The Merry Opera Company presents Verdi's tale of the tart with a heart. Set In the cultural melting-pot of East London's galleries, clubs and cafés, burlesque artiste Violetta is the reigning queen, adored by everyone from barristers to baristas. But she's hiding a fearful secret. When she unexpectedly and unconditionally falls for young city trader Al, neither has any idea where it might lead -especially as Al harbours a secret, too. A dual cast includes Claire Egan (Violetta), Robin Bailey (Alfredo) and Matthew Quirk (Germont). Kit Hesketh-Harvey directs his English translation; Stephen Hose oversees a small ensemble from the piano.
